Supporting young minds to grow — VMI and Psalms Food Industries make it official
Vital Minds Initiative Uganda and Psalms Food Industries Limited (Sumz Snacks) have formally signed a Memorandum of Understanding, bringing together two organisations with a shared belief: that Uganda’s young people deserve both mental wellness and the everyday joy of great snacks.
“Supporting young minds to grow & thrive”
The message on the jointly launched co-branded pull-up banner, bearing the logos of both organisations.
The banner was unveiled at the signing ceremony at Crisps House, Nansana — the head office of Psalms Food Industries — and will be displayed at all joint activations going forward.
The MoU, signed on 23rd March 2026, formalises a twelve-month partnership between VMI and Psalms Food Industries. It is built on a simple but powerful idea: that a snack brand reaching Uganda’s youth in schools and communities, and a mental health organisation working in those same spaces, are stronger together than apart.
Under the agreement, VMI will carry Sumz Snacks into school engagement programmes as well as community outreach and workplace wellness events. Psalms Food Industries will in turn support VMI’s activations with product sampling, co-branded materials, and in-kind contributions. The partnership also includes a structured Employee Assistance Programme, through which VMI will facilitate quarterly mindfulness and wellbeing sessions for Psalms Food Industries staff throughout the year.
What makes this partnership distinct is its honesty about what each side brings. VMI brings credibility in mental health programming, direct access to young people, and a trusted community presence. Psalms Food Industries brings a product that young Ugandans already love, and a genuine interest in the wellbeing of the communities it serves. Neither party is doing this for optics — both have already shown up for youth in practical, on-the-ground ways before this MoU was ever signed.
