Addressing Uganda’s critical annual national blood deficit of over 30%, Vital Minds Initiative Uganda successfully co-organized the high-impact Beera Star Blood Donation Campaign on 15th May 2026.
Partnering with the AT-Youth Clinic and the Uganda Blood Transfusion Services (UBTS), the campaign converted local spaces into life-saving operational hubs.
Operating out of the Morgan Building on Kasenyi Road, clinical staff from AT-Youth Clinic and the partner Adolescent Clinic Mulago managed strict pre-screening protocols to guarantee top-tier donor safety. To maximize local health awareness, the team distributed over 150 high-visibility reflector jackets customized with vital blood donation messaging directly to local Boda Boda riders.
The full day of community mobilization yielded 62 secure units of blood, potentially saving more than 186 lives. Premium nutrition and refreshments were fully supplied by corporate partner Psalms Food Industries, underscoring the success achieved when civil society and private enterprises unite for
national public health causes.
