We deliver evidence-based mental health literacy programs in schools, communities, and through digital platforms. Our interventions empower young people with knowledge about mental wellbeing, stress management, emotional regulation, and help-seeking.
We conduct community-driven research to understand youth mental health needs and develop culturally appropriate, youth-centered interventions. We document our impact and contribute to the evidence base for youth mental health in African contexts.
We don’t stop at supporting mental well-being, education and advocacy. Our initiatives involve supporting and conducting grassroots advocacy for myriad physical health and well-being initiatives. This means we are implementing much-needed health interventions, such as co-organising voluntary blood donation drives. We form partnerships to provide the needed health and safety support for community-focused youth-serving programs and health emergency interventions.
Youth-Led Community Based Organization
Vital Minds Initiative Uganda (VMI) is a youth-led Community Based Organization rooted in Uganda and driven by a simple but urgent belief — that Young people deserve mental health support before the breaking point, before a crisis. Not after.
